Write a 30-second TV spot for a Burns Night cookery book sampler giveaway, using two brands (The Broons and The Sunday Post) but without showing any of The Broons characters or giving them voices due to licensing restrictions.
Determined not to let a tough brief stop me, I wrote several scripts to tackle the problem. But the appeal of Burns, The Broons and The Sunday Post all had one thing in common - words. So I rewrote one of Scotland's most famous recipes in the style of Scotland's most famous poet, Robert Burns. The resulting TV ad dramatically increased sales of The Sunday Post, making sure their Burns Night issue was a runaway success.
